A Die-hard Leader - part 1

Leaders are either born or made!

Nevertheless, whether a born or made leader, the strict principles they must adhere to are the same. That's the horn of leadership.

Whenever I listened to people say -          "I have served in this organization for years, but yet I have not been given leadership function to play, I deserve to be uplifted", I always say to myself - "well!" It all depends on their understanding of the term "LEADERSHIP or LEADER" as the case may be.

I have seen people sell their respect and reputation just because they took up a leadership role. I have equally seen people who sore so high managing that same role, why?

That's exactly what I want to talk about. In this few words article, we will be looking at only two key principles a leader must not joke with.

A LEADER MUST SEE: when I say a leader must see, I'm talking about being able to cover all areas that is of concern to his designation in the leadership sphere. He must see physically, spiritually, academically etc. This will give him a foresight into any situation he may encounter.

He should be able to see and point out where there are loopholes and make effort to cover them. He should be able to manage people (this, in particular is where our local leaders are missing out). And, if not all, "he should know a little about everything".

A LEADER MUST BE BLIND: This is the principle that a lot of people seems to neglect which has caused them so much pains in their leadership journey.

" I am a born leader!" But, I have passed through a lot of training, and I'm still getting trained to kill the me in me in order to become the me that I so much long for.

If you must be a real good, high esteem and respected leader, then you must be connotatively blind.

We all know how much you love yourself and your family, so much that you wouldn't allow anything to happen to you, your wife, and kids. But, you should be good enough to close your eyes against any child of yours who breaks the law of the land without pity, just the same way you deal and discipline the ward(s) of your followers when they go against the rules. As a leader, you must learn to wear the shoe of your followers and let them wear yours. At least where it pains should be known.

The secret behind this principle is that - people wants to see what you would do if the ball were to be in your court. So, they judge you base on that, they respect you base on that, and they grade you same way.

Never say - it's the leader's family.            Never say - I am the boss!                          Never say - she's my wife/kid!

All these are good words to say, but may not go well in all situations

Note: "what is acceptable is worth accepting, what is deniable is worth denying. If you can't keep to this then quit leadership for you cannot make a better one (leader)"
